We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Electrical Build Technician to support a leading provider of advanced automation solutions for the global medical device manufacturing sector. This exciting opportunity offers hands-on involvement in the development and commissioning of highly specialized equipment that contributes to the production of life-saving medical technologies.
About the Role
In this position, you will work under the guidance of the Machine Build Coordinator or designated department leader and be involved in the electrical build and integration of custom automated machinery. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams at various stages of the machine lifecycle—including design review, electrical panel assembly, field wiring, system testing, and commissioning. This is a crucial, hands-on role with direct impact on the successful delivery of precision automation systems for a global client base.
Primary Responsibilities
* Interpret and work from electrical and pneumatic schematics to accurately construct and wire control panels and machine assemblies.
* Execute the full scope of electrical build activities, including panel assembly, panel wiring, cable routing, and field wiring.
* Ensure the highest level of workmanship and quality in each machine build, aligned with internal standards and client expectations.
* Support the commissioning team during critical project phases such as power-up, I/O checks, safety interlock validation, system resetting, and final quality verification.
* Troubleshoot and debug electrical systems and control panels to ensure functionality, compliance, and safety in line with technical specifications and relevant standards.
* Review and provide feedback on technical drawings and documentation in collaboration with the electrical design team.
* Accurately document completed work, changes, and findings in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.
* Maintain a clean and organized work environment to support efficiency and safety in the build area.
* Provide accurate estimates of time, materials, and effort required for new or modified builds.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives by contributing ideas and feedback based on hands-on experience.
Qualifications & Experience
* Ideally holds a Level 6 qualification in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in a technical role.
* Minimum of 2 years’ hands-on experience in electrical panel building, wiring, or machine integration, preferably within a high-tech or regulated manufacturing environment.
* You must be legally authorized to work in Ireland.
Skills & Attributes
* Proficient in reading and interpreting technical schematics, layouts, and wiring diagrams.
* High attention to detail and pride in producing tidy, methodical, and accurate electrical work.
* Solid understanding of electrical safety protocols and best practices.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, particularly in troubleshooting electrical faults or design issues.
* Effective time management and organizational skills; capable of managing multiple tasks under pressure.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with a collaborative approach to team environments.
* Competent in the use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general documentation practices.
* Willingness to adapt to a fast-paced and evolving project schedule; flexibility and initiative are key.
