About the Service

APP Training Service provides a community- based, person centred, outreach support service for adults with Autism. APP uses a programme approach which focuses on emotional supports, practical guidance, and advocacy.

Our programmes aim to improve the individual's quality of life, empowering them to make decisions and choices that enhance their capacity to live more meaningful lives in their community. Our service delivery model works in line with the HSE's Day Service national policy (New Directions 2012)

The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an Assistant Team Lead to join our expanding and progressive service. The Assistant Team Lead will form an integral part of the APP service delivery team, working holistically, autonomously and in collaboration with management and staff. You will also offer expertise to our team and any to additional support networks in supporting and developing our programme members' independence, inclusion, and skills development9

What is Involved - You will work closely and report to the APP service manager and APP management team in all areas relevant to delivering a community-based person centred service across all of our service regions.

You must adhere to best practice within the APP service by promoting, monitoring and maintaining health and safety and security in the workplace in line with all relevant policies and procedures.

All posts in APP training services require a high level of flexibility to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient service. Therefore, the post holder will be required to demonstrate flexibility as and when required by APP service manager and/or management team.

This job description is intended as an outline of the areas of responsibility and deliverables at the time of its writing. As the service and the post holder develops, the job description may be subject to review considering the ongoing changing needs of APP Training Services.

There will be an induction period of 6 months involved when there will be a review at/near the completion date.

Essential Criteria

Have a relevant Third Level qualification in Health & Social Care – minimum of Degree as well as prior experience in the Health & Social Care/Disability Sector.

Be a highly motivated, proactive individual who can organise and lead staff effectively.

Possess strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.

To be dedicated, punctual and work in a professional manner at all times.

Can effectively manage self and others

Willingness and ability to train and progress APP staff members

Possess excellent organisational skills with the ability to schedule and assign work loads

Have a Full, Clean Driver's Licence and suitable means of transport

Possess strong IT skills

Principal Responsibilities

· Ensure that APP's service developments and all our programmes are being delivered in accordance with the mission, vision and values of the service while always maintaining confidentiality.

· Work with APP Management to promote best practice in the provision of the highest quality service and ensure standards are maintained throughout all our service regions.

· Support and promote across all APP's service regions, a person-centred planning approach, promoting maximum opportunities for community involvement for individuals who use the service.

· Support the development and implementation of all relevant service documentation, programme structures, standard operating procedures, policies, national standards and HSE Adult Day Services requirements.

· Develop and maintain positive relationships and effective communication with APP management and staff, programme members and their families, outside professionals, HSE professionals and other community personnel. This can involve attending meetings either advocating for APP programme members or representing APP service.

· Work in a way that ensures the service provided by APP is delivered in compliance with relevant legislation, policies and practices and contractual requirements

· Support members who use the APP service to identify supports and work in partnership with the individual, their family and others as outlined within our members programme documentation.

· Ensure all members needs are prioritised and members needs are met in a safe, professional manner in order to facilitate maximum potential.

· To ensure that all APP staff are treated with respect, and that their health, safety, well-being is safeguarded during their time at work,

· Support and guide all APP staff in their delivery of service and in the completion of all necessary documentation and/or reports

· To fully participate, so that APP staff have at all times access to direct support and guidance.

· Support APP staff through programme delivery and best practice performance, dealing with any issues/difficulties as they arise as well as reporting same to your line manager.

· Support, manage and lead APP staff to work constructively by motivating both staff and programme members, as appropriate.

· Encourage development of self and others through APP staff appraisal and staff supervision process.

· To maintain necessary records as specified by APP service manager and/or management team. Any new developments to be discussed with your line manager and brought forward to APP management review meetings.

· To attend staff monthly review meetings as well as representing staff at relevant management review meetings.

Perform other job-related duties as deemed reasonable by APP service manager and/or management team.
