Job Profile: High Care Supervisor (Night Shift)

Job Purpose
Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that products meet the required food safety, quality, and health & safety standards. You will manage a team of staff, ensuring smooth operations, efficient stock management, and timely order fulfilment. Additionally, you will drive continuous improvement, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and foster effective communication between all relevant departments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product and Goods Management:
* Ensure all products and goods received and dispatched meet Ballymaguire Foods' strict food safety standards, quality specifications, and regulatory requirements.
2. Health, Safety, and Compliance:
* Uphold food safety, quality, and health & safety standards, regularly reviewing processes and implementing improvements to ensure compliance with both company policies and industry regulations.
3. Staff Communication and Team Coordination:
* Lead daily staff meetings to provide feedback, motivate staff, address concerns, and communicate company objectives. Ensure all staff are clear on their roles and responsibilities.
4. Stock Control and Inventory Management:
* Oversee proper stock segregation, storage, and rotation in key areas such as the big fridge, dispatch, and goods‑in area to ensure accurate inventory management.
5. Staffing and Scheduling:
* Manage staffing levels to ensure the team is adequately resourced, minimise overtime, and ensure adherence to rostered hours, in line with the Working Time Directive.
6. Task Delegation and Accountability:
* Delegate daily tasks to staff, ensuring proper execution, ownership, and follow‑through. Monitor staff performance to ensure they are working efficiently and effectively.
7. Order Fulfilment:
* Ensure the timely processing and dispatch of orders to meet customer deadlines, striving for a 100% order fill rate and ensuring all orders are completed on time.
8. Training and Development:
* Ensure all staff are fully trained and signed off for the jobs they are assigned. Maintain accurate training records and ensure employees are continuously developed to meet the needs of the business.
9. PPE and Safety Compliance:
* Ensure all staff wear the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adhere to all safety protocols.
10. Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement:
* Proactively identify operational issues and implement corrective and preventative actions. Communicate effectively with staff to ensure problems are addressed swiftly and processes are improved.
11. Waste Management:
* Oversee the management of waste, ensuring all waste is accounted for and disposed of according to company policy, with proper sign‑off from management.
12. Cleanliness and Organisation:
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation across all areas (e.g., yard, mezzanine floor, big fridge, dispatch, packaging stores, outside freezers). Ensure all areas comply with hygiene and safety standards.
13. Driver Coordination and Logistics:
* Coordinate with drivers regarding dispatch times and ensure communication is clear to prevent delays or frustration.
14. Paperwork and Reporting:
* Ensure all required paperwork (e.g., dispatch records, inventory logs) is completed accurately. Report any issues or discrepancies to the Production Manager and communicate key information to the Plant Manager as necessary.
15. Collaboration with Internal Teams:
* Work closely with the Sales Order team, Production Manager, and other relevant departments to ensure smooth order processing and resolve any issues with incoming or outgoing orders.
Qualifications & Experience
* Leaving Certificate or equivalent (a third‑level qualification in food production, logistics, or management is an advantage).
* Relevant certifications in food safety (e.g., HACCP), health & safety, or equivalent industry qualifications are desirable.
* Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment, preferably within a similar role.
* Strong knowledge of food manufacturing standards, food safety regulations, and compliance, especially within the Irish food industry.
* Familiarity with working time regulations and experience managing staff hours, overtime, and adherence to rostering.

* Time Management: Strong time management skills to ensure the timely fulfilment of orders, minimise delays, and ensure operational efficiency.
* Knowledge of Regulations: In‑depth understanding of food safety regulations, health & safety guidelines, waste management, and stock rotation practices.
* Teamwork: A collaborative approach to working with other departments to achieve company objectives and maintain a positive team dynamic.
* Technical Competence: Proficiency in basic computer software for reporting, communication, and documentation (e.g., Microsoft Office, email).
Key Performance Indicators
Performance Metrics: You will be expected to meet daily production targets, maintain a high standard of food safety compliance, and ensure minimal product defects.
