Leadership Opportunity in Medical Education
We are seeking an experienced consultant physician to take on a key role in the coordination and delivery of medical clinical teaching and assessment. As a member of our academic team, you will oversee all aspects of the undergraduate teaching programme at University Hospital Waterford.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide leadership in the planning and execution of medical clinical teaching and assessment
* Foster communication and student commitment including attendance
* Deliver group feedback
* Liaise with directors and department heads regarding teaching and assessment
* Attend regular meetings of the RCSI/Hospital Liaison Committee
* Liaise with hospital departments and staff to enable the delivery of the programme
* Co-ordinate a team of medical consultants and tutors who deliver educational services
* Contribute to the development of the curriculum
* Maintain compliance with statutory legislation, rules, and requirements
* Participate in programmes of training and development
* Represent the best interests of the institution
Requirements:
* Applicants must be of consultant physician status
* Contractual commitment of at least 20 hours to University Hospital Waterford
* Comprehensive knowledge of current issues in medical education
* Excellent managerial skills
* Drive and initiative to promote change in a challenging environment
* History of achieving results with the ability to act decisively and meet deadlines
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate, communicate, motivate, delegate, identify talent, inspire action from others, align people behind the corporate vision, and build effective teams
