The overall purpose of this role is to work under the supervision of the Health and Safety Officer to support the day to day management of Health & Safety Department.Key Responsibilities and DeliverablesAssist the H&S Officer with activities in relation to preparation with JCI AccreditationMinute the H&S meetings and ensure issues are closed and appropriate documentation and recordings are completed.Assist with document control via Q Pulse systemDeputise in absence of H&S Officer in ensuring accident and incident investigations and corrective actions and follow up effectiveness of these actions Perform regular Fire drills as per schedule and complete related documentationPerform regular Health & Safety Audits as per schedule and complete related documentationPerform regular Spill Drills and complete related documentationPerform regular Departmental Fire Risk Assessments and complete related documentationPerform regular Fire Warden Training Sessions and complete related documentationAssist the H&S Officer with the SDS Chemical Manager monitoring Perform the weekly Housekeeping auditing and monitoring ConfidentialityYou will be aware of the confidential nature of work and in particular, the right of patients to confidentiality.
To this end you will not discuss workings of the Beacon Hospital or its patients with people outside Beacon Hospital, save as required to do so in the course of your work.
Person SpecificationQualificationsCertificate in Health & Safety and Environmental Management (Minimum).ExperiencePrevious work experience preferably in a healthcare environment.Experience in carrying out Risk AssessmentsExperience in carrying out detailed Fire Risk AssessmentsExperience in Fire Warden activities and Fire drill procedures.Excellent administrative skills.Job SpecificCompetencies and KnowledgeExcellent computer skills/aptitude.Create and promote healthy working relationships.Be methodical, logical, efficient and highly organised.The incumbent will be required to maintain and enhance their knowledge and skills necessary to respond to a changing situation.Personal CompetenciesFlexible and adaptable in approach to duties.Well-developed organisational, communication and interpersonal skillsSelf-motivated with a capacity for responsibility and individual initiativeDemonstrate an ability to prioritise work.Availability to work on weekends/evenings/Bank Holidays performing Fire Drills.This job description is intended to be an outline of the areas of responsibility and deliverables at the time of its writing.
