Job Purpose
Monitor, optimise and operate the Wastewater Treatment Plant in compliance with Industrial Emission License parameters and the annual budget.
Location
Nenagh, Co. Tipperary
Reporting To
Environmental Manager
Responsibilities

Monitor the daily operation of the WWTP and support the team to ensure compliance with the site Industrial Emissions License.
Assist in WWTP operation to ensure a lean approach is used; monitor and communicate daily operational KPI for data‑driven decision making.
Maintain weekly and monthly reporting metrics on plant operation to target a lean operation approach and budgetary compliance.
Liaise with waste contractors to manage sludge collection & movement.
Assist the Environmental Manager with purchasing & stock requirements for the WWTP and laboratory.
Assist the Environmental Manager with scheduling WWTP routine maintenance, calibration and the annual maintenance plan.
Ensure all wastewater metering and sampling systems are maintained and calibrated, including the production site waste sampling system.
Issue daily COD report to the operations team and conduct weekly and monthly trending of data.
Operate the WWTP laboratory, ensuring all testing is completed on schedule, and review daily results, reporting any issues to the Environment Manager.
Prepare external laboratory sample testing in accordance with the IEL.
Provide operational cover for WWTP Operators as required.
Assist complaint investigation in relation to wastewater treatment to implement immediate corrective and preventive actions.
Conduct weekly river sampling and condition monitoring.
Ensure all Health & Safety criteria are complied with and maintain high standards of WWTP housekeeping.
Liaise with relevant bodies (e.g. EPA) regarding the WWTP and support the Environmental Manager with EPA EDEN correspondence, notifications, NMP and complaints.
Support the role of the Environmental Manager and compliance with ISO 14001 & site standards as relevant.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline.

Key Skills / Attributes / Core Competencies

Proficient in data management systems, trend analysis and reporting.
Written and spoken English fluency.
High PC literacy.
Valid driving licence.

Although primarily located in Nenagh, the successful candidate will also need to work at the Tipperary Town site.
