Job Summary
The Inventory Management Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient management of inventory within a warehouse or storage facility. This role plays a vital part in optimizing storage space, minimizing waste, and preventing stockouts.
This position involves maintaining accurate records of all incoming and outgoing stock using inventory management software and physical counts. Regular cycle counting and full physical inventory counts are conducted to reconcile stock records with actual inventory and investigate discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing stock.
* Conduct regular cycle counting and full physical inventory counts.
* Monitor stock levels and identify minimum and maximum stock requirements.
Receiving and Dispatch:
* Oversee the efficient receiving, inspection, and proper storage of incoming goods.
* Ensure all goods are correctly labelled, barcoded, and stored in designated locations.
* Coordinate the picking, packing, and dispatch of orders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Stock Optimization:
* Identify and report on slow-moving, obsolete, or damaged stock to management.
* Implement and maintain proper stock rotation methods (e.g., FIFO - First-In, First-Out).
Health and Safety:
* Adhere to all company health, safety, and security procedures within the warehouse environment.
* Ensure the storage areas are clean, tidy, and organized.
Liaison:
* Communicate effectively with the procurement, sales, and logistics teams to coordinate inventory needs and delivery schedules.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
* Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
* Experience: Proven experience working as an Inventory Manager, Stock Controller, or in a similar inventory management role.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in using inventory management systems (IMS) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
