Role/ Department:
This Chief Risk Officer will be responsible for developing and maintaining the risk management framework for the entity.
The role holder will ensure effective risk management policies, procedures, and processes are in place to identify, measure, manage, and monitor risks across all categories.
This includes ensuring that risks are managed within agreed appetite limits set and reporting on those risks as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement daily risk management responsibilities for the branch, including the application of the Corporate risk management framework.
2. Ensure that the branch has effective processes in place to identify and manage its risks, including both Financial and Non-Financial risks.
3. Coordinate and document risk management activities according to the business model.
4. Oversee the development and implementation of risk management policies where necessary to meet regulatory expectations.
5. Risk oversight including development and embedding of an appropriate risk management framework, risk appetite statement, risk tolerance thresholds, and related risk reporting.
6. Oversee, plan, and direct risk management activities ensuring objectives are met.
7. Provide counsel to business unit managers on risk management issues.
8. Participate in senior management at the Branch Management Committee, and other working groups and committees that are part of the governance of the entity.
9. Accountable to the management body for the activities of the independent risk management function.
10. Monitor applicable legislative and regulatory changes and communicate changes to affected business units.

Requirements:
* Extensive risk experience, with significant understanding of custody banking, transactional banking, and broader ancillary operations.
* Thorough knowledge of Corporate, industry, and Business Unit activities, compliance-related requirements, and risk mitigation techniques.
* Leadership, organisational skills, and strategic vision are required to direct multiple units and provide thought leadership and consulting throughout the business unit and/or the organisation.
* Excellent analytical and communication skills to review/approve policies and procedures, and work with line areas to oversee and manage risk activities.
* Able to think strategically, navigate, and communicate effectively across a complex organisation.
* Highly motivated and resilient.
* Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with strong attention to detail.
* Confident in making decisions and addressing conflict.
