About The Role
Roughan O’Donovan (ROD) is looking to recruit a graduate ecologist for a permanent position within our expanding environment and ecology team. The role will be based in our Cork office.
You will work in an integrated team of ecologists, environmental scientists, planners and engineers, assisting in the assessment and delivery of a range of projects, including roads, greenways, buildings and bridges.
You will get involved in the ecological and biodiversity aspects of plans and infrastructure and conservation projects.
Key aspects of the role include undertaking field surveys and technical reporting.

Essential Qualifications
Degree in ecology or a related biological/environmental science subject with an ecological component (Level 8 qualification in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent)
Good field skills and a keen interest and understanding of Irish wildlife
Excellent report writing skills
Hard-working and highly motivated
Demonstrated field survey experience in ecology e.g. habitat classification (Fossitt), badger, otter, bat, bird and invasive species surveys
Client-focused with good interpersonal skills and a team approach
Physically fit and willing to undertake fieldwork in remote areas and in all weather conditions
Excellent communication and IT skills, with the ability to record data efficiently and methodically
Fluency/high level of proficiency in spoken and written English
Full clean driving licence
Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or working towards membership
Desirable Qualifications
Relevant volunteering experience
A postgraduate qualification in a relevant ecological discipline that includes practical experience
Familiarity with relevant Irish and European legislation, such as the Habitats Directive, Birds Directive, EIA Directive, Birds and Natural Habitats Regulations
Experience using GIS systems, such as ArcGIS, QGIS and/or others
