The Director of Revenue reports directly to the General Manager with a dotted line to the Area Director of Revenue and will be responsible for maximizing revenues, market share and profit for his/her hotel in partnership with the Revenue Coordinator, the General Manager and the business unit's marketing, sales & e-commerce departments.
Specific duties
* To create and implement strategic pricing.
* To define pricing and yield guidelines for rates, room types, and customer segments.
* To define the ideal business mix and channel mix strategy, define overbooking and protection strategy, define Crew & TO optimal allotments.
Planning, budgeting & forecasting
* To build property revenue strategy & budget proposal and prepare forecast based on the NH guidelines.
* To validate RMS forecast and ensure corrective action to improve the forecast.
Daily revenue management optimization
* To review demand calendars, convention and city event calendars and sets up events & seasonality databases.
* To perform daily pick-up analysis, reviews yield system forecast, competition analysis and price positioning.
* To effectively apply pricing & restrictions in line with set strategy to maximize profits: rate open/closing, rate level and short-term sales & promotion action plan design & execution.
* To be responsible for group quotations and related displacement analysis.
Performance, demand & competition analysis
* To carefully monitor market performance, RGI, channel performance.
* To follow all relevant developments of the marketplace, values impact of demand generators, note changes in supply, behaviour in feeder markets etc.
* To keep up to date knowledge of main competitors, product knowledge, pricing, business mix, etc.
* To ensure quality of data is checked on a regular basis.
Communication
* To communicate strategic recommendations to key commercial stake holders, e.g., Regional Director of Revenue and GM, and ensures buy-in and commitment from all involved.
* To hold regular reviews with key stakeholders.
* To participate actively in RM team collaboration & validation meetings.
* To work closely with the Revenue Coordinator.
* To communicate forecast & strategy.
Management responsibilities
* To ensure the hotel achieves the Leading Hotels of the World Quality Assurance targets and that the highest standards of luxury and quality are delivered consistently to our guests.
* To deliver excellent care to our guests.
* To carry out departmental audits to ensure LHQA is achieved by all team members.
* To ensure that the Hotel's Vision & Mission statement is communicated to the team.
* To ensure that areas of responsibility are clean and well maintained.
* To ensure that the ambience in departments (lights, music and temperature) are controlled.
* To report defective materials and equipment to the appropriate departments.
* To ensure that all new initiatives are implemented in the agreed time frame.
* To ensure that personal objectives are set and achieved on a yearly basis.
* To attend meetings as required.
* To ensure guest feedback is acted upon in a timely manner ensuring the relevant people are informed and that all necessary action is taken to prevent re occurrences.
* To monitor all purchasing and costs in the department and to ensure that spend is in line with budgets and in line with purchasing procedures.
* To ensure departmental sales are achieved in line with the hotel budget.
* To accept a flexible work schedule necessary for uninterrupted service to hotel guests and to maintain flexibility within teams.
* To provide support where necessary in other areas of the Hotel.
* To comply with the hotel's cash handling procedures and ensure that all team members are trained accordingly.
* To drive business results through revenue growth and cost savings efficiency.
People
* To assist in the recruitment and selection of team members
* To appraise all team members in accordance with the agreed appraisal procedure.
* To ensure that all team members comply with the employee handbook.
* To manage the Timepoint System for relevant departments.
* To ensure holidays, bank holidays and lieu time are managed for all team members.
* To ensure departmental daily briefings are carried out at relevant times.
* To chair monthly departmental meetings and ensure team members attend General Team Meetings and ECCM when required.
* To ensure that all team members are rostered in accordance with the Organisation of Working Time Act.
* To ensure that all team members adhere to the hotel's grooming procedures.
* To identify and develop key team members and develop a succession plan in conjunction with People & Culture.
* To train all team members to have full knowledge and understanding of the Leading Hotels of the World Quality Assurance targets and that the highest standards of quality are delivered consistently to our guests.
Required experience, skills and knowledge
* Minimum 5 years' experience in Revenue Management.
* Organized and methodical.
* Highly quantitative analytical skills.
* Strategic thinking and mindset.
* Commercial sense.
* Strong influencing and communication skills.
* Proven track record of revenue growth in previous hotels.
* Good team player.
* Microsoft Office Skills.
* Knowledge of TMS4Hotels or other hotel CRS and PMS Systems. Knowledge of Hotel Revenue Management Systems, preferable DUETTO.
* Fully knowledgeable and compliant with the leading Hotels of the World LQA program.
