Are you looking for an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a world-class company? Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a Facilities Specialist to join our team in Ireland, Athlone. As a Facilities Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring flawless operations of our facilities and support the company's mission to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.
Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repairs:Coordinating routine maintenance and addressing repairs for building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural components to ensure they are functioning properly.
Space Management:Planning and optimizing the use of space within the facility, including office layouts, meeting rooms, and common areas, to meet the needs of the organization and its employees.
Safety and Compliance:Ensuring the facility complies with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards. This includes conducting regular inspections and audits, and implementing safety protocols and emergency response plans.
Vendor Management:Coordinating with external vendors and contractors for services such as cleaning, landscaping, security, and specialized maintenance. This includes negotiating contracts, managing budgets, and overseeing the quality of work.
Sustainability Initiatives:Implementing and promoting sustainable practices within the facility, such as energy efficiency measures, waste reduction programs, and environmentally friendly building materials and technologies.
Asset Management:Keeping track of facility-related assets, including equipment, furniture, and supplies. This includes maintaining inventory records, scheduling preventative maintenance, and managing asset lifecycles.
Budgeting and Cost Control:Developing and managing the facilities budget, including forecasting expenses, tracking expenditures, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Customer Service:Providing support and assistance to employees and other facility users, addressing their needs and concerns related to the physical work environment.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in facilities management or a related field
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Ability to complete multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Out of hours on call availability on occasion.
