Are you a hands-on Automation Engineer who is as comfortable talking to people as you are programming PLCs?
We are working with a MedTech manufacturer based in South Dublin / North Wicklow who are looking for someone who can do more than just fix machines. They need someone who builds trust with the people around them, solves problems at pace and leaves relationships intact when they do it.
This is a small, tight-knit team where your work is visible and your contribution matters.
THE ROLE
You will work hands-on across automation engineering, controls, maintenance and production support. Day to day you will cover a varied mix of fault finding, planned maintenance, system improvements and cross-team collaboration.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Programme and modify PLCs, HMIs and SCADA systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley and similar)
Install, configure and commission industrial automation hardware and software
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on automation and control systems
Interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs and technical drawings
Support system validation, testing and performance optimisation
Work closely with engineering, operations and maintenance teams daily
Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations and changes
Identify and implement improvements that increase reliability and productivity
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Degree or certification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation or related discipline
Minimum 2 years hands-on experience with automation systems in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Strong PLC programming skills — Siemens, Allen-Bradley or Schneider
HMI and SCADA configuration experience
Solid understanding of industrial control systems, sensors, instrumentation and safety standards
Ability to read and interpret electrical documentation confidently
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability
Excellent communication skills — you will work with people at every level of the business
NICE TO HAVE
Networks: Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, DeviceNet
Robotics integration and VFD/servo systems
Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
Knowledge of safety systems — light curtains, safety relays, interlocks
THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Technical ability will get you through the door. What will make you stand out is how you work with people. This is a small company where knowledge lives with the team. You will need to build relationships quickly, communicate clearly under pressure and know how to get the best out of the people around you — not just the equipment in front of you.
WHAT IS ON OFFER
Competitive salary based on experience
Permanent position with a stable, established MedTech manufacturer
Hands-on role with real variety day to day
Small team environment where your work is seen and valued
