Job Description:

The Kilkenny Gaelic Athletic Association seeks a talented individual to fill the position of Performance and Player Development Lead. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality, coherence, and consistency of player and coach development within the county.


This exciting opportunity involves leading the delivery of the Kilkenny GAA strategy to improve player and coach development. You will work closely with the County Head of Games and the County Coaching and Games Committee to develop and implement plans aligned with national objectives.


The successful candidate will have experience in strategic management, people management, leadership, and financial management. A strong understanding of Gaelic Games structures and culture is essential for this role.


You will be responsible for overseeing the healthy and holistic development of players by supporting coaches, parents/guardians, and players to apply best practice coaching principles. Your passion for Gaelic Games and your ability to act on initiative will make you an ideal candidate for this position.



Main Responsibilities:

* Strategic Management: Lead the delivery of the county's player development strategy to enhance player and coach development.
* People Management: Recruit, train, and manage a team of coaches, coach developers, and sports science support staff.
* Leadership and Governance: Advise the County Head of Games, the County Coaching and Games Committee, and County Officers on games development.
* Financial Management: Support the preparation and management of the annual financial budget for talent development.
* Player Development: Oversee player development by supporting coaches, parents/guardians, and players to apply best practice coaching principles.



Requirements:

* A third-level degree in Exercise and Sports Science or related area (Minimum Level 7 NFQ).
* Minimum Award 1 Coach Development qualification.
* Excellent coaching skills and experience coaching.
* Minimum of 3 years coaching experience in the Gaelic Games pathway.
* A passion for Gaelic Games and understanding of its structures and culture.



Key Performance Indicators:

* Develop an annual Talent Development Plan aligned to national objectives.
* Report on plan implementation and ensure adherence to games development policy.
* Set goals and objectives for personnel and oversee performance management.



Essential Criteria:

* A strong self-starter with ability to act on initiative.
* High level of self-awareness.
* Demonstrated leadership experience in sport.



Desirable Criteria:

* Knowledge of technical, physical, psychological, and tactical demands associated with Gaelic Games.
* Excellent knowledge around player profiling and screening.
