Company Overview:
A well-established, family-owned food manufacturing company is seeking a Financial Controller to join its senior leadership team. The company operates state-of-the-art facilities and supplies high-quality poultry, pork, and bacon products to both domestic and international markets.
Role Overview:
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in the overall leadership and strategy of the business. The role involves full responsibility for the Finance, IT, Customs, and Administrative functions, and is central to ensuring sound financial governance, operational excellence, and strategic planning across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Finance & Accounting Operations
* Oversee all financial operations including management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
* Manage monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reporting.
* Treasury and cash flow planning, including bank reconciliations and managing banking relationships.
Accounts Receivable & Payable
* Lead the review and management of customer and supplier accounts to ensure compliance with trading terms.
* Oversee invoice processing, credit control, reconciliations, and supplier payments.
* Provide monthly AR/AP analysis for management reporting.
Stock & Systems Management
* Supervise monthly stocktakes and ensure accurate reporting of meat and packaging stock.
* Ensure data accuracy and operational efficiency within the internal ERP system.
* Liaise with IT personnel and service providers to manage system updates and improvements.
Payroll & Tax
* Oversee monthly and weekly payroll processes, including submissions to Revenue.
* Manage VAT, VIES, Intrastat, Plastic Packaging Tax, and other compliance filings.
* Support ad hoc payroll and tax calculations as required.
Customs & Compliance
* Monitor customs operations and ensure all relevant submissions are completed accurately and on time.
* Coordinate with external bodies for tax, audit, and grant applications.
Grants & Insurance
* Identify and manage grant opportunities and submissions.
* Maintain strong relationships with enterprise support bodies.
* Handle credit insurance policies, claims, and annual renewals.
Strategic & Commercial Support
* Provide commercial input into CAPEX, expansion initiatives, and strategic decision-making.
* Collaborate with senior managers to ensure alignment with financial and business objectives.
* Prepare reports for regulatory and industry bodies as required.
Candidate Profile:
* ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA qualified.
* Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience in a senior finance role.
* Strong IT systems understanding and advanced Excel skills.
* Proven leadership, communication, and team management capabilities.
* Experience within a manufacturing or FMCG environment is highly desirable
