Bord Gáis Energy is looking for a skilled Civil, Structural & Architectural Lead Engineer to lead all engineering aspects of our asset development strategy across Ireland and the UK. You'll manage technical design, contracting, delivery, commissioning, and optimisation of large-scale infrastructure projects within a multi-billion euro capital investment portfolio.
About the role:
* Lead Civil, Structural & Architectural engineering for Bord Gáis Energy's assets and projects.
* Collaborate with Asset Development teams to influence Centrica's strategic direction.
* Manage key stakeholders including contractors, regulators, TSO/DSO, and government bodies.
* Oversee contracts, tender assessments, and performance management for thermal generation, solar, turbine, and battery storage projects.
* Provide technical expertise and governance throughout design, construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
* Challenge designs to ensure the best technical and cost-effective solutions.
* Coordinate technical interfaces across EPC contractors, OEMs, consultancies, and authorities.
* Support due diligence on new investment opportunities.
Here's what we're looking for:
* Strong proven experience in Civil, Structural & Architectural engineering within capital asset projects (greenfield or brownfield).
* Expert knowledge in large-scale infrastructure design and construction, including codes and standards (IEC, EUROCODE, RIBA).
* Strong understanding of planning, statutory building requirements, groundworks, geotechnical assessments, and commercial building design.
* Experience managing abnormal load assessments and cross-discipline interfaces.
* Familiarity with contract types (FIDIC, NEC) and project management tools including risk analysis and controls.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
* Able to work independently and within a matrix organisation, managing deadlines and driving results.
* Experience in site feasibility assessments is a plus; knowledge of power markets is advantageous.
