A long-established heavy-industry manufacturing site in Limerick is seeking a
Lead Mechanical Engineer
to support plant maintenance, drive project delivery, and provide day-to-day leadership within the engineering function.
This site has operated for more than 85 years in Ireland and runs large-scale process equipment, high-temperature operations, and major capital assets.
You will play a key part in maintaining plant reliability, managing contractors, and guiding engineers and technicians across a busy maintenance environment.
The organisation has several upcoming projects, offering clear scope for further progression.
What you'll do
Lead maintenance activity across a defined plant area
Oversee preventative and predictive maintenance plans
Direct contractors and guide junior engineers and technicians
Plan shutdowns and major overhauls
Troubleshoot failures and improve equipment reliability
Support and deliver large-scale plant improvement projects
Maintain and improve safety and environmental standards
What you need
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
7–10 years' experience
in mechanical engineering within Ireland
Strong background in heavy industry, utilities, cement, quarry, mining, or large-scale manufacturing
Proven experience leading people, contractors, or engineering teams
Solid understanding of reactive and preventative maintenance
Ability to plan downtimes, manage resources, and deliver projects
Confident communicator who can influence and guide others
Full right to work in Ireland

of the Limerick site

onsite 5 days per week
