Boston Scientific Neuromodulation technologies help patients manage chronic pain and neurological conditions.
Our solutions include WaveWriter AlphaTM Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS) Systems to treat chronic pain and Vercise GenusTM Deep Brain Stimulation Systems to treat movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease.
There is no one-size-fits-all treatment for pain and neurological conditions.

About the role:
We are looking for an innovative Senior R&D Engineer to join our team.
You will research, design, develop, and test medical devices.
The ideal candidate has a background in mechanical or biomedical engineering and a strong track record of impactful contributions.
This role is based in our facility in Clonmel Ireland.
Key Responsibilities:
Support new product development (NPD) from concept through design, prototyping, testing, and validation
Engage physicians, patients, sales reps, marketing, and others to collect feedback for devices under development
Support sustaining engineering activities, includingrootcauseanalysis, failure investigation, and product improvementsand product performance
Provide integration support, ensuring compatibility between systemsand performing gap analysis between BSC andnew business unit'sproductlife cycle.
Collaboratecrossfunctionallywithprocess development, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams
Create specifications and perform engineering analyses
Supportandanalyseproject scopes and schedules
Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and competition.
Deliver designs that meet goals such as performance, standards, manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
Generate regulatory audit worthy design and risk management documentation
Support design for manufacturability, testability,reliabilityand costrequirements
Generate andmaintaintechnical documentation, including design files, test reports, and procedures
Support verification and validation testing, regulatory compliance, and design reviews
Education & Experience:
Required Qualifications:
Hons Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum5years' experience in the medical device industry or other similarly regulatedfieldorM.S.
inMechanical Engineeringand +3years of experience in medical devicemechanicaldesign
Experience working with international standards such as IEC *****,IEC *****,ISO *****,or similar.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as a hands-on design engineer in the medical device industry, responsible for new implantable and external device designs,surgical tools, access instruments, or handheld and wearable devices,materials, equipment, and processes
Demonstrate broad knowledge of design controls and risk management
Hands-on experienceutilizingSolidWorks 3D CAD and drafting standards (e.g., ANSI Y14.5)
StrongunderstandingofGD&T, hands on experience preferred
Experience executing projects through commercial launch
Animal studies, preclinical studies, cadaver lab, fieldresearchand clinical studies to evaluate the usability and performance of designed products
Experience Requirements:
Strong communications and time management abilities.
Strong technical knowledge ofmechanicaldesignprinciples
Lab skills and experiencewithprototyping, general test equipment setupfor mechanicaltesting.
Expert in Failure Analysis.
Requirement'sadherenceprinciples and understanding (product specifications, etc.).
In all actions,demonstratesa primary commitment to patient safety and product quality bymaintainingcompliancetothe Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
Must haveexcellentcommunication and interpersonal skills.
Provide Technical supportand leadershipasrequired, to technology and product development teams.
Must be a self-starter, manageowntime and prioritize tasks based on business priorities.
Previousexperience in the technical mentorship of junior engineers
