Summary
The Financial Accountant is responsible for supporting the Financial Controller in managing the organization's accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. This role involves preparing financial statements, managing general ledger activities, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes. The Financial Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of financial data and supporting the financial health of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
· Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
· Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
· Ensure compliance Financial Reporting Standard 102.
· Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
· Record and review journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
· Monitor and reconcile balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
· Assist the Financial Controller in preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
· Monitor actual performance against budgets and report variances to the Financial Controller.
· Support the development of financial models and projections to aid strategic planning.
Compliance and Internal Controls:
· Support the implementation and maintenance of internal control policies and procedures.
· Assist in coordinating with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and support during audits.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
· Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
· Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as requested by the Financial Controller or senior management.
· Support the Financial Controller in presenting financial performance insights to stakeholders.
Team Collaboration:
· Work closely with the finance team to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
· Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial data related to operations, sales, or procurement.
· Provide guidance and support to accounts staff.
Technology and Systems:
· Utilize SAP software to manage financial records and generate reports.
· Assist in implementing and maintaining financial systems to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills
· Qualified or part-qualified accountant.
· A minimum of three years industry experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
· Knowledge and experience working with SAP is preferred but not essential.
· Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially excel.
· High level of accuracy in preparing and reviewing financial records.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with the Financial Controller, senior management, and external stakeholders.
· Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a finance team and across departments.
