Seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Scientist to join our team in a dynamic Histology department within a leading hospital in Dublin. This role offers the opportunity to work under the leadership of a highly supportive Chief Medical Scientist and Laboratory manager.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated individual to contribute to the success of our laboratory by performing laboratory tests, processing and authorising samples under the direction of the Senior Medical Scientist and Laboratory Manager.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in writing, maintaining and enforcing procedures relating to all areas of the laboratory and its related testing equipment.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Assist in applying and implementing operational procedures up to best practice standard in order to optimise use of resources.
2. Assist in the implementation of a quality management programme that is patient centred and which measures and audits performance and client satisfaction.
3. Perform scientific work to the required INAB and JCI Accreditation Standards, as determined by the Senior Medical Scientist and the Laboratory Manager
4. Participate in the implementation of quality management programmes.
5. Actively participate in internal and external quality control and assurance programmes
6. Participate as required in the training of the laboratory team.
7. Be professional, punctual and dedicated member of the laboratory team promoting good open communications.
8. Ensure adherence to all codes of and guidelines relating to professional practice and including the maintenance of Quality Assurance standards.
Requirements:
1. BSc in Medical Science or equivalent qualification
2. Current registration with CORU or eligibility for registration is required.
3. Knowledge and experience of working in an ISO15189 accredited Medical Laboratory.
4. Minimum of 1 year in service training across all disciplines.
5. Experience in Histology essential.
6. Experience in Cut Up would be advantageous
7. Be familiar with IT packages supporting office and laboratory service.
8. Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a professional and dedicated attitude.
9. Be familiar with legislation as it pertains to the provision of a quality laboratory service.
10. Demonstrate the capacity to be part of a team.
