Operational Database Administrator Role Overview
This position involves managing complex databases that provide healthcare applications and data.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Install, administer and manage operational database environments based on InterSystems IRIS for production, reporting, disaster recovery, training, and non-production needs.
2. Apply upgrades and updates to production and non-production environments.
3. Install and maintain administrative and monitoring tools necessary for high levels of availability and performance of healthcare IT systems.
4. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues and configure environment copies according to the environment strategy.
5. Engage in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources.
6. Manage Change Control processes for all Epic environments build migration and technical activities.
7. Review Sherlock and Galaxy notes and apply routine upgrades to all Epic environment client applications and back-end services.
8. Implement Epic system high availability strategies and mechanisms.
9. Communicate Epic application and infrastructure changes to necessary teams across the enterprise.
Requirements:
* Degree qualified in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
* Strong Linux administration skills, including experience with command line tools, scripting, and troubleshooting.
* Ability to create, understand, and follow processes to ensure successful execution of critical maintenance tasks.
* Experience working with Epic Systems is preferred.
* Knowledge of a command shell (BASH), plus languages and utilities such as awk, sed, or Perl is an asset.
