We are currently seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Transport Planner to join our clients dynamic operations team. This key role will be responsible for the day-to-day scheduling and coordination of transport activities for specific client accounts and/or regions.
You will be working closely with team members across planning, administration, and driver operations, the Transport Planner will play a central part in ensuring service delivery, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across the logistics function.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare daily transport schedules for assigned customers and/or geographical areas.
* Optimize routing for vehicles and resources to ensure operational efficiency.
* Collaborate with other planners to manage shared assets and regional coordination.
* Communicate clearly with drivers and support staff, ensuring accurate job instructions.
* Monitor and balance driver workloads and working hours throughout the week.
* Support administrative staff in ensuring timely and accurate reporting, documentation, and customer updates.
* Contribute to planning-related audits, compliance requirements, and performance reporting.
* Support the coordination of leave planning to maintain staffing levels.
* Identify and escalate operational issues or potential service risks as needed.
* Contribute to ongoing performance monitoring and improvements within the team.
* Participate in regular operational meetings and provide input for service enhancements.
* Participate in a shared out-of-hours support rota.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
* Degree in Transport & Logistics or relevant work experience in a similar role.
* Minimum of 2 years in a transport planning or logistics coordination position.
* Strong organizational and time management abilities.
* Analytical thinker with problem-solving skills.
* Effective communicator – both written and verbal.
* Ability to multitask and perform well under pressure.
* Confident using transport systems and Microsoft Office tools.
