The business combines strong local knowledge with global engineering capability across infrastructure, water, environment and clean energy.Role overviewYou will lead end-to-end drainage design delivery from option development through detailed design, approvals, construction support and handover. Your responsibilities include producing designs, calculations, reports and coordinated 3D BIM models that meet programme, quality and client requirements while ensuring compliance with Irish and UK standards. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical interfaces, promote BIM-led delivery, support Modern Methods of Construction, and advance sustainable design outcomes with focus on resilience, constructability and whole-life thinking.Key Responsibilities:Lead the delivery of drainage design packages for transport and civil engineering projectsPrepare and review drainage calculations, hydraulic assessments, reports, drawings and technical documentationDevelop and coordinate 3D models in line with current BIM standards and digital delivery requirementsApply relevant Irish and UK design standards to ensure compliance across all project outputsCoordinate with project managers, discipline leads, clients, regulators and external stakeholders to progress designs and secure approvalsIdentify, manage and resolve technical interfaces with highways, structures, geotechnical, environmental, utilities and construction teamsContribute to climate adaptation and resilient infrastructure solutions for transport networksSupport the integration of sustainability principles and Modern Methods of Construction into drainage design approachesUse digital workflows and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled processes where appropriate, to improve delivery efficiency and design assuranceUndertake technical reviews and quality checks to ensure outputs are accurate, coordinated and fit for purposeProvide construction support and respond to technical queries during project deliveryMentor junior engineers, support workload planning and help strengthen technical capability across the teamEssential Skills, Qualifications and Experience:Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related disciplineMinimum of eight years' experience in drainage design and multidisciplinary project deliveryStrong working knowledge of Irish and UK drainage standards, including TII, GDRCP, DMRB, Sewers for Adoption and CIRIA guidanceDemonstrated experience delivering drainage solutions across transport and civil infrastructure projectsStrong competence in 3D modelling and BIM workflowsAbility to produce high-quality technical deliverables, including design calculations, reports and coordinated modelsExperience working within multidisciplinary teams and managing design interfaces effectivelyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProven ability to provide technical leadership and mentor junior team membersUnderstanding of sustainable design principles, resilience and practical constructability considerationsDesirable: Chartered Engineer status (CEng MICE or equivalent)Desirable: training in climate adaptation, hydrology expertise, and experience working with Tier 1 contractors and national authoritiesHow to applyIf you believe this Senior Drainage Engineer role aligns with your experience, please apply via the button provided.
