Within the role you will drive innovation and play a vital role in our delivery of industry leading service and award-winning food. PURPOSE OF JOB: TO ASSIST THE HEAD CHEF / SOUS CHEF TO ENSURE THE SUCCESSFUL OPERATION OF YOUR WORK SECTION AND INCLUDING ALL BACK OF HOUSE AREAS, THE STAFF CANTEEN AND DELIVERY BAY. TO TAKE DIRECTION FROM YOUR DEPARTMENT HEAD AND TO ASSIST IN THE MONITORING OF FOOD QUALITY AND HYGIENE STANDARDS. TO ADHERE TO HACCP PROCEDURES AT ALL TIMES.
TO ENSURE ALL KITCHEN STAFF OBSERVE APPROPRIATE SYSTEMS OF HYGIENE DURING FOOD PREPARATION AND STORAGE Duties Include: The role involves assisting in food preparation, setting up workstations, instructing kitchen stewards, and ensuring a safe environment for customers, staff, and visitors.
The role also involves maintaining hygiene, ensuring food preparation areas are clean, and preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes according to menu specifications. Proper handling of knives and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues and managers is crucial.
The role also involves implementing a profitable stock taking system, ensuring high-quality purchases and deliveries, and maintaining a clean kitchen. Communication with customers is essential, and the role requires maintaining a clean environment, securing lost and found property, and reporting maintenance needs to supervisors or managers.
The role also involves promoting hotel facilities, participating in training programs, and adhering to personnel policies and procedures. Participation in meetings, job chats, performance appraisals, and complaints is essential.
The role also aims to achieve high hotel inspection results and maintains a clean uniform and name badge. Health & Safety The Health & Safety at Work Act 2007 mandates employees to ensure the health and safety of themselves, colleagues, and guests.
They must maintain clean and safe work areas, report potential hazards, and be aware of trained first-aid personnel.
They must follow safety rules, conduct fire drills, and participate in training.
They must also be an active member of the Health & Safety Committee and inform management of any accidents or incidents. Flexibility/Inter-changeability The hotel requires flexibility and cooperation in its operations, requiring full inter-departmental inter-change and assisting with duties as directed by Management, depending on business levels within the hotel.
