Duties
This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career. We are seeking a dedicated Retail Assistant to join our social enterprise team at CUMAS New Ross. This role offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully by supporting people with disabilities to gain employment in a supportive environment, while ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our retail and production services.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
* Process customer payments efficiently, explaining all payment options.
* Arrange signage, adjust window displays, and maintain display shelving.
* Ensure product displays are stocked, organised, and priced accurately.
* Engage positively with customers and suppliers.
* Input stock on the POS system and update inventory records as new products arrive.
* Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies.
* Abide by all organisational policies and procedures.
* Communicate regularly with the Project Coordinator.
* Contribute actively to the strategic development of the enterprise.
* Ensure the values and ethos of CUMAS are reflected in all activities.
* Carry out other tasks as required to support the framing area and sales department.
Desirable but not essential
* Previous experience in a retail environment but not relevant.
* Experience working in a social enterprise or community-based project.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Knowledge of POS systems helpful but not relevant and basic IT skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team while using initiative.
* Awareness of health & safety and safe working practices.
* Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills.
* Commitment to promoting inclusion and supporting people with disabilities.
