Overview
VP of Engineering (Remote) at Percona. Percona is a leading provider of open-source database software and services. This is a fully remote role, with a global, diverse team of open-source enthusiasts. You are a high-level strategic thinker with a hands-on mindset, capable of driving technical excellence across multiple engineering groups.
What You Will Do
* Lead Technical Transformation: Drive technical initiatives to improve quality, efficiency, and reliability across the engineering organization, including optimizing the software development lifecycle and assisting teams in using AI to increase product innovation.
* Mentor and Coach: Act as a technical mentor for engineering leaders and senior individual contributors to help them grow and excel.
* Define and Evangelize Best Practices: Establish and promote engineering standards, processes, and practices to ensure consistency and excellence.
* Strategic Planning: Collaborate with executive leadership and product management to align technical strategy with business goals.
What We Are Looking For
* Extensive Experience: At least five years in engineering leadership with a strong background in architecture and technical strategy. Knowledge of database internals is useful but not required.
* Technical Acumen: Deep hands-on technical knowledge of software development, open-source technologies, databases, and cloud-native architectures.
* Transformational Leadership: Proven track record of driving significant technical and process improvements across multiple teams or business units, including testing, building, and shipping enterprise-grade software.
* Exceptional Communicator: Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
* Collaborative Spirit: Thrives in a remote-first environment and builds strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
