Our client, a leading global semiconductor innovator, is looking for an experienced
Physical Design Engineer
to join their advanced SoC development team in
Cork, Ireland
.
The role involves working on state-of-the-art designs in the latest technology nodes, contributing to the full physical implementation process from floorplan to tape-out.
Key Responsibilities
Own the complete physical design flow — from floor planning, power planning, and placement to CTS, routing, optimization, and GDSII delivery.
Collaborate with cross-functional design, verification, and power teams to achieve aggressive PPA (Power, Performance, Area) targets and ensure high-quality, manufacturable designs.
Research, develop, and refine innovative design methodologies, including scripting and automation to improve implementation efficiency.
Perform analysis and validation activities such as timing closure, power integrity, DRC/LVS checks, and benchmarking to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent).
Minimum
4 years
of relevant experience in
physical design
for complex SoCs or ASICs.
Strong understanding of the full physical design flow and expertise with EDA tools at
10nm or smaller
process nodes.
Solid background in STA, timing and power optimization, and physical verification.
Skilled in scripting and flow automation using
TCL, Perl
, or similar languages.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and analytical skills with the ability to work effectively in a global engineering environment.
