Role & Responsibilities:
The Head of IT & Digital Security leads Pieta's digital transformation, systems oversight, and technology strategy.
This role is central to delivering a secure, resilient, and client-focused technology environment that supports Pieta's mission of preventing suicide and self-harm.
You will drive innovation, ensure robust data governance, and manage key technology partnerships so that systems, data, and digital tools enhance the experience of clients, staff, donors, and volunteers — improving both service delivery and organisational efficiency.
Strategic Leadership
* Develop and deliver Pieta's IT and digital strategy aligned with the organisation's mission and strategic plan.
* Champion innovation and continuous improvement across client, donor, and staff-facing systems.
* Collaborate with senior leaders to identify and implement technology-led solutions that enhance impact, accessibility, and efficiency.
* Represent IT and digital matters at senior leadership, Board, and committee level.
Systems & Infrastructure Oversight
* Ensure reliability, security, and efficiency of core systems, applications, and infrastructure.
* Oversee IT service management and hold external technology partners accountable for delivery and performance.
* Lead operational resilience efforts including disaster recovery, data protection, and business continuity planning.
* Develop and manage the ICT budget, ensuring effective investment and cost control.
Digital Transformation
* Lead the implementation of Pieta's systems transformation project across all areas of the organisation.
* Support the organisation to drive the digitisation and automation of processes to enhance client care and staff efficiency across all areas.
* Identify, evaluate, and implement digital tools that improve collaboration, insight, and outcomes and ensure all areas are supporting this approach.
* Promote digital inclusion and capability across the organisation through effective training and change management.
Cybersecurity & Data Governance
* Act as Pieta's lead on cybersecurity and data protection, ensuring compliance with GDPR and relevant standards.
* Establish and maintain strong cybersecurity policies, frameworks, and incident response protocols.
* Collaborate with the Data Protection Officer and other stakeholders to ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and appropriate use.
* Provide regular reporting on IT risk, security posture, and mitigation strategies.
Data & Insights
* Oversee data systems and quality to enable evidence-based decision-making.
* Working closely with the data analytics function support the development of data analytics and reporting to inform strategy, service design, and donor engagement.
* Ensure appropriate data lifecycle management and governance processes are in place.
Project & Portfolio Management
* Lead digital and IT projects from conception to delivery, ensuring timelines, quality, and value for money.
* Manage project risk, scope, and stakeholder communication.
* Establish clear KPIs and reporting mechanisms to track outcomes and impact.
Leadership & Governance
* Build, lead, and mentor the IT team.
* Foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture within IT.
* Develop and maintain IT-related policies, standards, and governance frameworks.
* Contribute actively to organisational planning, culture, and values.
* Undertake additional tasks as agreed with the CEO to support Pieta's mission and strategic priorities
Education, Skills & Experience Required:
* Minimum 10 years' experience in senior IT, digital transformation, or systems leadership roles.
* Proven experience leading digital or IT change projects in a complex, multi-site or service-oriented environment (charity, healthcare, or public sector desirable).
* Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud environments, and cybersecurity frameworks.
* Demonstrated success in implementing enterprise systems (CRM, case management, ERP, or similar).
* Experience managing multiple stakeholders including contractors, vendors and service providers, including contract and performance management.
* Strong background in operational resilience, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
* Familiarity with data management, analytics, and reporting.
* Experience in budget management and strategic planning.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and Boards.
* Relevant third-level qualification in IT, Computer Science, or related field (Master's desirable).
* Professional certifications in IT management, cybersecurity, or project management (e.g., ITIL, CISSP, PMP) are advantageous.
