WIDA Child and Young Persons Service Staff Nurse Posts Full and Part-Time Waterford Intellectual Disability Association are currently recruiting permanent Staff Nurses to join their team in WIDA Child and Young Persons Service.
These permanent posts are available on a full time or part time basis.
Who We Are: Waterford Intellectual Disability Service (WIDA) is a community based voluntary provider of services for children and young persons with an intellectual disability and/or autism in Waterford City and County.
WIDA is registered charity, with a voluntary Board of Directors.
The WIDA Child and Young Adult Service is funded by TUSLA.
WIDA Child and Young Persons Service The WIDA children's service offers a specialised, expert service, bespoke to the need of the child or young adult placed in our care.
The role of Staff Nurse in our Child and Young Adult Residential Service is an essential part of the team that provides support to the children and young people in line with the national standards and regulation for Children's Residential Services, and relevant legislation.
Hours of Work: Full time 37.5 hours Per Week (150 hours per 4 Weeks) or Part Time Hours Available - 5/7 Roster What We Offer: Salary range from €33,943 to €51,628 plus allowances etc.
Company Pension Death-in-Service Benefit Continuous Professional Development Employee Assistance Programme Paid Maternity/Paternity Leave Bike to Work Scheme Education/Training/Experience: Registered Nurse maintained on NMBI live register essential Registered Nurse in Intellectual Disability preferable Bachelor of Science in Nursing desirable Experience of working with people with Intellectual Disabilities essential Full Driving Licence essential Responsibilities of the Position: Ensure the proper organisation, adequate supervision and running of the Residential/Respite Home ensuring a home like atmosphere for all clients.
Promote and Adopt a Philosophy of Care.
Observe, record and inform senior staff of any changes affecting the emotional, social, medical and physical well being of the client and assist each client with advice, instruction and support where appropriate.
Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner, to a high standard being accurate and detailed to ensure compliance with WIDA procedures, NMBI and HIQA standards.
Foster, encourage and develop each client's social skills and self-care skills and carry out assigned and delegated tasks involving direct care and all activities of daily living (e.g. to assist clients maintain standards of personal hygiene, laundry, dietary intake, physical and mental health).
Know and understand each client i.e. abilities, disabilities, behaviours problems, general medical history and family background.
Encourage clients to maintain independence, commensurate to any physical/intellectual disabilities and to stimulate their participation in the Service.
Be conversant with fire regulations/emergency procedures, report any incidents as or potential incidents which may compromise the health and safety of clients, staff or visitors and take appropriate action.
Further the interests of each client and the services being provided to each client.
Attend appropriate lectures, courses, staff meetings and training activities in order to keep abreast of current developments in services for persons with learning disabilities.
Facilitate internal communication and the exchange of information.
Liaise regularly and act as the point of contact for families.
Participate in Multidisciplinary meetings and psychology reviews.
Organise and participate actively in recreational, educational and other training programmes.
To familiarise, understand and follow all WIDA policies and procedures relevant to your role.
Carry out risk assessments, care plans and reviews and participate in the Key Working System.
Driving Service Users to and from activities/ outings/day services.
Any other duties assigned.
