As we continue to expand, we are seeking a proactive and organized Assistant Accountant to assist our existing Finance team and Financial Controller / Accountant in maintaining smooth financial operations and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.
Job Description:
We are looking for an Assistant Accountant who will play a key role in supporting the Finance team and Financial Controller / Accountant with day-to-day accounting tasks. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of financial functions, including preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and assisting with audits.
Key Responsibilities:
You will report directly to a Financial Controller / Accountant in the business and be tasked with duties such as :
* Assist the Financial Controller / Accountant in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
* Perform bank & balance sheet reconciliations and support to manage cash flow reports.
* Support the preparation of monthly prepayment and accrual journals.
* Support the calculation of monthly depreciation and manage fixed assets register including Lease Finance and Hire Purchase assets.
* Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
* Assist in managing financial records and documentation in compliance with company policies.
* Help prepare for internal and external audits.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries.
* Liaise with internal departments and external vendors to resolve financial queries.
* Support the Financial Controller with ad-hoc tasks and special projects as required.
Qualifications:
* A degree in accounting and Finance or diploma in Accounting or ATI
· Studying towards a professional qualification in accountancy.
* Minimum 2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage 50).
* Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance.
* Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally at all levels.
