Summary:
Our client, a biopharmaceutical company located in Carlow, is seeking a Facilities Engineer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure and equipment of buildings and facility-related systems. This includes analyzing processes within the Facility and Utility Support functions of the Engineering department to identify and implement improvements, supporting ongoing projects through safety inspections, participating in sustainability initiatives, and providing general support to the wider Engineering team. The successful candidate will have relevant facility engineering experience, preferably in a GMP manufacturing setting, with a background supporting Facility and Utility Support functions.
Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with other departments and external partners to ensure the successful delivery of Facility and Utility Support functions safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
* Maintain Facility and Utility Support services to ensure site inspection readiness at all times.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives through participation in projects, system failure analyses, and incident investigations using methodologies like 8D, RCA, etc.
* Assist in the development and implementation of Change Controls related to Engineering activities.
* Participate in Lean initiatives such as Gemba walks and Kaizen events.
* Ensure compliance with global policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and cGMP standards in daily activities.
* Maintain documentation, conduct risk assessments, close out corrective actions, and participate in audits and inspections, proactively addressing compliance issues.
* Escalate issues promptly and support their resolution.
* Develop and review SOPs to ensure clarity and compliance.
* Support site Reliability and Calibration improvement programs.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams to support project activities through inspections and safety walks.
* Promote a culture of safety and compliance across the site.
* Coordinate with partners such as IPT, Supply Chain, Warehouse, Quality, Labs, and vendors.
* Prepare presentations and reports on project progress for stakeholders.
* Manage vendors for on-site work, ensuring safety and permit compliance.
* Respond to safety incidents, gather information, and coordinate investigations and corrective actions.
* Address building fabric issues, support investigations, and oversee remediation actions.
* Supervise temporary building usage and respond to related issues.
* Oversee building occupancy and conduct periodic checks.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field preferred.
* Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies; Green Belt certification preferred.
* Significant experience in a similar role, contributing independently and adding value.
* Experience supporting Facilities and Utilities in a GMP manufacturing environment, with a proven record of delivering improvement projects.
* Knowledge of Irish, European, and international codes, standards, and practices.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related applications.
