Role Description
We are seeking a Financial Controller who will lead the finance function. This is a hands-on role ensuring robust financial control, timely reporting, and compliance. The role focuses on operational finance and supports the senior leadership team in making informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
* Oversee day-to-day accounting operations (AP, AR, payroll, banking, cash flow).
* Produce accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports.
* Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes.
* Maintain strong financial controls, reconciliations, and compliance with statutory obligations.
* Work collaboratively with the Domestic and Commercial CEG teams to ensure Energy Credits are accurately calculated, recorded, and banked, that providers issue invoices on a timely basis, and that credits are allocated to the correct categories (e.g., corporate donations, corporate clients, or domestic suppliers).
* Work with the Domestic and Commercial CEG teams to ensure accurate and timely grant claims are submitted to SEAI, and establish effective controls to track, reconcile, and manage grant payments both incoming and outgoing.
* Support the year-end audit and liaise with external auditors.
Business Support
* Provide financial analysis and insight to inform strategic and operational decisions.
* Support department heads with budget management and cost control.
* Contribute to business planning, investment appraisal, and project evaluation.
Controls & Compliance
* Maintain and improve internal financial policies, processes, and controls.
* Ensure compliance with tax, VAT, and other regulatory requirements.
* Safeguard company assets through effective controls and risk management.
Team Leadership
* Supervise and develop finance and admin team.
* Oversee workload allocation within the department to maximise efficiency.
* Support the professional development of junior staff.
Qualifications
* ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
* Significant post-qualification experience in a similar hands-on finance leadership role.
Will HR be reporting to them? Unusual for a Financial Controller to have this responsibility, THIS normally happens in leaner, small orgs. Unlikely to get a financial controller with HR Experience
