Overview
The Calibration Technician will assist in the calibration, testing, and repair of a variety of standard instrumentation and specialist equipment, in line with relevant industry practices and regulations, as directed by the Calibration Lead.
This role covers calibration duties across the full manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform calibrations on temperature, humidity, pressure, weight, flow, speed, conductivity, pH, and viscosity instrumentation in accordance with company procedures and cGMP requirements.
* Investigate, diagnose, and rectify instrumentation faults identified during calibration activities.
* Report calibration non-conformances promptly and ensure deviation reports are generated where required.
* Enter calibration records into the CMMS in accordance with ALCOA+ principles.
* Ensure calibration reference standards are in date, correctly labelled, and proactively notify the Calibration Lead of any upcoming expiries.
* Maintain compliance with all required site training.
* Keep an organised, clean, and tidy workspace in line with 5S pillars.
* Adhere to approved EHS risk assessments for elevated-risk calibration activities; report accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to EHS.
* Support routine safety inspections and Gemba walks related to calibration activities.
* Comply with HR policies and procedures, including timely absence reporting.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Calibration Lead within the general remit of the role.
Requirements
* Time-served Electrical & Instrumentation apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in Electronics/Instrumentation/Control Systems, City & Guilds/FTC in Electronics or Control & Instrumentation, or equivalent.
* Previous calibration experience in a pharmaceutical cleanroom or similarly regulated manufacturing environment.
* Proven problem-solving ability with instrumentation/measurement devices.
* Experience using CMMS for calibration records (e.g., SAP, Maximo, ProCal).
* Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Able to work effectively on own initiative and contribute within a team.
* Track record of seeing activities through to completion.
