Job Overview:
The successful candidate will lead and manage the estimating department, overseeing all tendering activities. This includes reviewing incoming tender documents and allocating projects across the team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure all estimates are complete, accurate and aligned with company standards.
* Provide leadership on complex tenders and support team development.
* Maintain and improve estimating tools, cost libraries and pricing strategies.
* Review mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications for accurate cost forecasting.
* Liaise with commercial, contracts, and operations teams to ensure seamless project transitions.
* Negotiate with suppliers/subcontractors and identify value engineering opportunities.
* Monitor post-tender performance and drive continuous improvement in estimating processes.
* Represent the estimating department in internal and client meetings.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a Mechanical Estimator Manager or Senior Estimator role.
* Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and mechanical/process pipework systems.
* Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
* High level of commercial awareness and ability to drive best-value outcomes.
* Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office tools.
* Third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Building Services, Cost Engineering, or similar.
* National Skills Certificate in plumbing, pipefitting or similar trade qualification (preferred).
