Creggan Court Hotel is seeking an experienced and flexible Relief Chef to support our kitchen team in Athlone. The successful candidate will have strong culinary skills and the ability to step into a busy kitchen environment, maintaining consistency in food quality and hygiene standards. We are looking for a reliable, hands-on professional who can adapt quickly and work collaboratively during peak service periods.
About the Role
As Relief Chef, you will assist the Head Chef and kitchen team with food preparation and service across breakfast, lunch, and evening service as required. This is a flexible role providing rostered cover. You will ensure all dishes are prepared to a high standard while maintaining excellent food safety and kitchen hygiene practices.
Responsibilities
Prepare and cook dishes to a consistent and high standard.
* Support the kitchen team during busy service periods.
* Ensure adherence to HACCP and all food safety regulations.
* Assist with food preparation, stock rotation, and waste control.
* Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times.
* Follow dish specifications and menu standards.
* Communicate effectively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams.
Qualifications
* Minimum 2 years' experience in a professional kitchen environment (hotel or high-volume kitchen desirable).
* HACCP certification (Level 2+ required; Level 3 desirable).
* Culinary qualification is an advantage but not essential where experience is strong.
Required Skills
* Strong cooking skills with the ability to move between kitchen stations as needed.
* Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining quality and presentation.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Reliable, punctual, and professional approach.
* Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as rostered.

Pay: €13.50-€15.00 per hour
