Base Location:You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in our Dublin or Belfast officesSalary:€57,600 - €86,400 (ROI) or £42,600 - £64,000 (NI) + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.Working Pattern:Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options availableThe roleThe Group Communications Manager (Ireland) plays an integral role in delivering SSE's ambitious external communications strategy in Ireland and Northern Ireland. This position requires proactive media engagement, strong relationship management, and crisis communications expertise. Working within the Corporate Affairs function, the role supports communications across our Renewables, Thermal, and Energy Customer Solutions business units, while ensuring a consistent and aligned SSE Group story.You willLead the day to day management of the press office, ensuring timely, accurate and high-quality responses to media enquiries while identifying emerging risks and supporting crisis communications.Build and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts, securing high-impact opportunities and monitoring industry coverage.Coordinate content planning and deliver consistently high-quality communications across SSE's business units, promoting a clear and consistent SSE Group narrative.Act as the central point of contact for the Group Media, Digital and Brand teams on the island of Ireland, aligning local activity with wider Group priorities.Manage and mentor a Group Communications Officer, setting priorities, allocating workload and supporting their ongoing development.You haveExtensive experience in media relations, with a proven ability to engage with journalists and manage complex queries effectively; existing network of media contacts is an advantage.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil technical issues into clear, compelling narratives; proficiency with digital content creation is an advantage.Strong understanding of communications within large, multi-business organisations; experience in the energy industry or a related sector is an advantage.Composure and resilience in high-pressure situations, maintaining high standards at all times.A highly collaborative approach with the ability to work within a matrix structure.About SSESSE's purpose is to provide energy needed today while building a better world of energy for tomorrow.
