Automation Engineer – Galway
Our client is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement advanced automated equipment solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to work with bespoke engineering systems based in Galway.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and integrate machine control system software including PLCs, Robotics, Motion, HMI, SCADA, and Vision systems.
* Develop, test, commission, and support bespoke automation solutions across a range of industries.
* Ensure all equipment designs meet CE marking, electrical, machinery safety, and relevant client/industry standards.
* Prepare and interpret technical documentation, including User Requirement Specifications (URS), Functional Design Specifications (FDS), and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) protocols.
* Specify appropriate control system components based on project requirements.
* Work collaboratively within cross‑functional project teams across the full project lifecycle—from concept to handover.
Requirements
* Proven hands‑on experience with PLC and HMI systems (preferably Allen Bradley or Siemens).
* Strong understanding of automated machine design, control system specification, and development.
* Ability to create, review, and maintain technical and validation documentation.
* Familiarity with robotics, motion control, machine vision, and pneumatics is an advantage.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Quality‑focused with a problem‑solving mindset.
* Ability to work effectively in multi‑disciplinary teams.
* Driving License and ability to travel.
