Driven by a passion for solving complex problems, we innovate to connect the world through sustainable aviation.ResponsibilitiesWork in the Thermo-Mechanical Systems team alongside experts in fluid dynamics, heat transfer, turbomachinery, and acoustics.Analyse and develop aircraft systems from early‑stage concepts through to delivery of advanced technologies prioritising efficiency and a low noise footprint.Innovate in the delivery of advanced technology through creative analysis and problem‑solving, selecting and deploying appropriate modelling fidelity, including high‑fidelity computational models.Communicate research results effectively through verbal and written means.Participate in the creation of research proposals to Collins business units and government agencies.Contribute to an international team, developing theory, modelling, simulations, and proof‑of‑concept demonstrations.What YOU must haveA university degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.Experience in aeroacoustics / fluid mechanics / aerodynamics as applied to propulsion systems, rotor technologies, turbomachinery, or compression systems with experience in the application of computational fluid dynamics in one or more of these areas.Experience with state‑of‑the‑art tools on noise modelling, simulation of sound propagation and interaction with structures, and techniques to minimise noise levels.Experience in applying analytical skills towards the development of new technologies.Qualifications We PreferMaster's Degree or Ph.D. in aerospace engineering, or closely related field.Ph.D. candidates with no formal experience will be considered; M.S. candidates must have 1+ years experience in a relevant work environment.Adaptability and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.Excellent communication skills, informal and formal presentation skills, and ability to foster positive relationships with internal and external partners.Ability to manage uncertain requirements, develop approaches to solve problems, and recognise when additional subject‑matter expertise is needed.What YOU will learnExposure to research that enhances technical acumen and professional development.Opportunity to partner with universities, government agencies, national labs, and professional organisations to maximise the impact of your work.Skills we valueAn applied background in aerospace systems and architecture is a plus.Experience with aerospace regulations and certification standards.What We OfferCompetitive salaries.23 days holiday + statutory public holidays.Contributory Pension Scheme (up to 8 % company contribution).'Life Assurance' with pension.Enhanced family‑friendly policies.Private Medical Insurance.Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry.
