Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to direct site-wide R&D, supporting new product introduction, operational performance, and long-term technical capability.

Your objectives:
As the R&D Leader, you will be measured against the following objectives:
1. Build and maintain an R&D organisation capable of supporting all chemistry and analytical requirements for new product introduction and ongoing manufacturing.
2. Deliver robust, optimised chemical processes and analytical methods that improve yield, throughput, quality, and cost.
3. Define and execute a technical and technology strategy aligned with business priorities and network collaboration.
What you will do:
As the Director Leader, your duties and responsibilities will include:
· Lead and direct the site R&D organisation, ensuring effective delivery of chemistry and analytical support.
· Support new business development through technical assessment of new products and opportunities.
· Ensure successful development, scale up, and transfer of chemical processes, meeting target timelines, yields, and quality requirements.
· Provide technical support and investigation leadership to manufacturing when process challenges occur.
· Ensure Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance of R&D operations and documentation.
· Develop and implement a site technical strategy based on business priorities and competitive landscape assessment.
· Assess, introduce, and drive new technologies where appropriate to enhance site capability.
· Lead, coach, and develop technical teams through clear objectives, development plans, and succession planning.
· Manage R&D operating budgets and capital expenditure (CAPEX) programmes, ensuring effective use of resources.
What you will bring:
These are the skills and experience you will need to succeed as the Director R&D:
· Extensive leadership experience within pharmaceutical Research and Development in a regulated manufacturing environment.
· Strong background in chemical process development, scale up, and technology transfer.
· In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance and the drug development process.
· Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop multi-disciplinary technical teams.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across cross-functional and multicultural teams.
· Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemistry or equivalent scientific discipline.
· A minimum of 10 years' experience within bulk pharmaceutical manufacturing.
