Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Microbiologist to join a high-quality, ISO-accredited regional microbiology service providing clinical, infection prevention & control, and antimicrobial stewardship support across multiple acute hospitals and community services in the South East region.
Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical microbiology and infection prevention & control services to acute and community healthcare settings.
Participate in a regional antimicrobial stewardship programme and lead relevant initiatives.
Supervise laboratory operations, ensuring quality and timely reporting.
Participate in clinical audit, research, and teaching of medical trainees and other healthcare professionals.
Engage in ongoing professional development and quality assurance programmes.
Participate in the 1:5 on-call rota for out-of-hours service provision.
Requirements
Specialist registration (or eligibility for registration) on the
Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners
maintained by the
Medical Council of Ireland
in the specialty of
Microbiology
.
Proven experience in clinical microbiology, infection control, and antimicrobial stewardship.
Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
Commitment to continuous quality improvement and patient safety.
Access to transport as travel across sites may be required.
Additional Information
Annual leave: 30 working days.
Pensionable post under the HSE superannuation scheme.
Appointment subject to medical and character clearance.
