The Role The Trainee Mechanic will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day planned and unplanned maintenance of all machinery, building maintenance and boiler room testing.
In addition, you would need to order and account for parts, support warehouse staff with large container deliveries, and meet tradesmen to discuss specialised building works.
This role would report to the Factory Manager.
Responsibilities Have a reasonable working knowledge of machinery, this includes knitting machines, lockstitch, overlockers, linkers and button machines.
Have the aptitude to learn on the job.
Co-ordinate with Lodge Rd re ordering parts and documenting parts on site The potential to find new suppliers and ordering parts where this benefits the company.
Maintain the boiler room, testing and water hardening, and ordering salts and BT261 chemicals.
Establish a safe working environment that complies with H S standards.
Report all faults immediately and fill in all documentation required.
Complete routine checks of the building and grounds and carrying out any maintenance required.
Assisting warehouse staff moving yarn from upper to lower levels.
Assisting warehouse staff in unloading large container deliveries.
Must have forklift qualifications and be able to continue training where needed.
Compliance with all H S requirements per operation Skills Required Experienced mechanic Competent knowledge of machinery and keen ability/aptitude to learn mechanics of new machinery.
Strong multi-tasking skills Good communications skills The ability to problem solve Strong H S knowledge and ability to carry out tasks in compliance with H S standards.
