OverviewCivil & Structural Engineering, Transport InfrastructureContact Ciaran Hall the consultant managing this role.The Senior Resident Engineer (SRE) will act as the client’s on-site representative for the delivery of a major Roads and Active Travel infrastructure project in Letterkenny.ResponsibilitiesLead the site supervision team and manage day-to-day construction oversight.Ensure compliance with the Public Works Contract (PW-CF) and project specifications.Oversee quality assurance, materials testing, and contractor performance.Review and approve method statements, traffic management plans, and temporary works proposals.Monitor health, safety, and environmental compliance, ensuring adherence to the Contractor’s Safety Statement and relevant legislation.Manage and review contractor submissions including programmes, progress reports, and as-built documentation.Chair and record site meetings and prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.Liaise with the Employer’s Representative, design team, local authority staff, utility providers, and other stakeholders.Supervise and mentor Assistant Resident Engineers, Inspectors, and Clerks of Works.Monitor project progress, assess variations, and assist in evaluating contractor claims.Ensure that the works are delivered to the highest quality and sustainability standards, promoting best practice in active travel design and construction.Qualifications & ExperienceDegree in Civil Engineering or equivalent (Level 8 NFQ or higher).Minimum 10 years’ post-graduate experience in civil engineering works.At least 5 years’ experience in roads, streetscape, or active travel projects.Strong working knowledge of TII standards, DMURS, and Public Works Contracts (PW-CF1/CF3).Proven experience in site supervision and contractor management.Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder coordination skills.Full clean driving licence.Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards Chartered status.Experience with Local Authority or TII-funded infrastructure projects.Knowledge of sustainable urban drainage (SuDS), landscaping, and public realm design.Familiarity with Health & Safety at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.Proficiency in MS Project, AutoCAD, and common site documentation systems.
