Postdoctoral Researcher Opportunity
">

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team in leading a cutting-edge medical device project. The successful candidate will have expertise in vascular delivery systems, stents, or stent grafts and contribute to the design, development, and commercialisation of advanced medical devices.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of innovation in composite-based stent technologies, contributing to the delivery of technologies with significant clinical impact.

">

About the Project:

The DIGISTENT project is a ground-breaking initiative that aims to develop the world's first wireless digital stent technology. This minimally invasive solution is designed to continuously monitor the mechanical performance of stents used in the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). The technology has the potential to enhance the ability to detect endoleaks and signs of stent degradation, enabling early intervention and reducing the risk of serious complications.

">

Job Summary:

The successful Postdoctoral Researcher will be responsible for leading the design and development of a novel smart stent, focused on the integration of a wireless sensor onto a stent graft. They will also develop, calibrate, and optimize a Finite Element (FE) model of a stent graft to replicate its behaviour during loading into the delivery system and deployment in a patient-specific context.

Additionally, the researcher will utilize the FE simulation to refine the sensor geometry and integration design to aid smart stent prototype development. They will create test methods, conduct design evaluations, and manage verification and validation activities.

">

Requirements:

* A primary degree/PhD in biomedical engineering, or a related discipline, or 4+ years post qualification relevant experience.
* Minimum 3 years' experience in medical device or related regulated product development.
* Proven project and technical leadership in R&D environments.
* Experience with stent grafts is highly desirable.
">

Skills and Qualifications:

* Proficient in CAD software such as SolidWorks and Ansys/Abaqus.
* Strong understanding of medical device quality systems (ISO 13485, FDA QSR, EU MDR).
* Excellent documentation and technical writing skills.
* Statistical knowledge (DOE, Gage R&R) is desirable.
">

What We Offer:

* Competitive salary package.
* 2-year contract with 20 days annual leave plus 10 public holidays.
* Pension scheme with 3% company matched contribution.
* Professional development opportunities.
">

Equal Opportunities:

We are an equal opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
