Electrical Project Manager, Leixlip.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the design process for electrical systems, ensuring efficient handover to construction teams, and providing support during the construction phase.
You will lead and build a team of electrical project professionals as the market enters a significant growth phase, promoting Glanua's strategic objectives. You will actively promote Glanua's culture and leverage its solutions-focused and design-driven approach to deliver innovative, sustainable, and efficient designs to the market.
The role fosters a one-team culture, encouraging personal skill development. You will provide leadership in electrical design and construction implementation.
Please note: This position is based in our Leixlip office, with travel to other Glanua locations across the Leinster Region.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Lead an electrical engineering team across all aspects of the electrical contract scope, including design, pre-construction, construction, inspection, testing, commissioning, and handover.
* Monitor and report on team performance, making adjustments to ensure effective delivery.
* Integrate health, safety, environmental, and sustainability standards into designs, considering construction impacts.
* Maintain standards throughout construction, whether direct or subcontracted.
* Manage and motivate a large team to meet project deadlines and requirements.
* Foster positive client relationships through collaboration and professionalism.
* Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to optimize design solutions.
* Promote and manage a shared resource pool of design engineers across locations, monitoring performance and accountability.
* Manage third-party design consultants, build a supply chain of sub-consultants, and optimize performance and efficiency.
* Develop design strategies and prepare business cases for electrical design approaches.
* Assist in tender preparation and pricing for electrical works.
* Embed commercial awareness within design teams and conduct budget reviews.
* Promote themes from Glanua's strategy, including off-site manufacturing, digitalization, and sustainability.
* Conduct constructability reviews early in the design process and coordinate with delivery teams.
* Ensure a smooth handover to site teams, addressing design comments and queries.
* Support procurement and technically review tender submissions to ensure standards and value.
* Encourage innovative technologies and working methods.
* Identify opportunities and mitigate risks through effective design and lifecycle management.
* Participate in resource management and team recruitment.
* Lead people management activities, including performance reviews and onboarding.
* Ensure compliance with local standards and continuous professional development.
* Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
* At least 6 years of relevant experience, preferably in water and wastewater industries.
* Deep knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and PSDP/PSCS roles.
* Experience in electrical engineering, including LV control and power distribution, panel schematics, and subcontractor design packages.
* Desirable experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA systems, network architecture, and communications protocols.
* Proficiency with Trimble Design (Amtech) and Autodesk products is desirable.
* Knowledge of motor-starter designs, VSDs, and intelligent starters.
* Electrical/Electronics Engineering qualification.
* Ability to work under pressure and collaboratively with clients and teams.
* Proficiency in project management software like MS Project.
* Excellent communication skills and motivation.
* Full driving license.
