NexVentur is seeking to hire a Quantity Surveyor, to join our clients' team, a well-established civil engineering contractor based in Portlaoise.Known for delivering high-quality infrastructure, site development, and roadworks projects throughout the Midlands and Leinster regions, they work closely with Tier 1 main contractors, major residential developers, and local authorities.Due to a sustained pipeline of landmark projects, they are seeking an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor to manage commercial operations, maximise project profitability, and support their ongoing regional growth.As a Project Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial ownership of a diverse portfolio of civil engineering projects.Your workload will span heavy groundworks packages for large-scale housing developments, public road realignment and improvement schemes, deep drainage networks, and specialised environmental/leisure civil works.Role & ResponsibilitiesManage the full commercial life cycle of multiple concurrent civil infrastructure and groundworks packages.Value, negotiate, and formalise subcontractor accounts, including detailed procurement of specialized site services (e.g., piling, dewatering, and directional drilling).Identify, quantify, and track variations from initial site instructions through to agreement with main contractors or client representatives.Prepare accurate monthly cost-value reconciliations (CVRs), cash flow forecasts, and project margin reports for company leadership.Perform detailed material and earthworks take-offs from construction drawings and digital models.Partner closely with Site Agents and Project Engineers to ensure operational changes are captured, costed, and documented immediately.Manage commercial aspects of projects similar to: Bulk earthworks, foundation preparation, road construction, and deep mainline drainage for residential developments; Local authority road widening schemes, including the installation of active travel infrastructure (cycle tracks, footpaths), upgraded public lighting networks, and signalised junctions; Installation of extensive storm/foul water infrastructure, large attenuation tanks, box culverts for river diversions, and utility ducting (ESB/Irish Water specifications).Skills & ExperienceA degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a closely related discipline.3–5+ years of post-qualification experience working as a QS, specifically within civil engineering, heavy groundworks, or utilities construction in Ireland or the UK.Strong proficiency in measurement software (e.g., Cubit, CostX, or Buildsoft) and Microsoft Excel.Thorough understanding of the ARM4 (Civil Engineering Standard Method of Measurement) or alternative civil standard methods of measurement.
