Job Title: R&D Technician - Busbar Testing Department: Research & Development / Test Laboratory Reports To: R&D Test Engineer / Lab Manager Vertiv manufactures the most compact type tested Powerboard Low Voltage (LV) Switchgear assemblies on the market.
Our team in Burnfoot, Ireland have set the standard for electrical switchgear.
As an electrical design engineer you will use intuitive electrical design software to create single source low voltage switchgear solutions that enable our clients to take a fully integrated approach to their power distribution.
Our Product Evaluation Technicians travel regularly to test facilities.
They plan and coordinate all Product Evaluation Schedules with the R&D Managers for Switchgear and Busbar, maintain detailed records of test results and up to date Product Standards.
The role Record keeping & documentation; Creation of temperature rise reports.
MS Word/Publisher.
Temperature rise testing and use of current injection units.
Training on operation provided.
Setting up of Switchgear, Busbar and Tap off Unit test apparatus.
Selection of ingoing connections and outgoing star point cable/copper sizes based on Table 11 & 12 of IEC*****.
Gain an understanding of temperature rise limits based on Table 6 of IEC***** and the terminal temperature limits stated by device manufacturers such as ABB & Schneider.
Organizing test connection parts with Copper Department.
Setting up Datataker Record sheets (excel based) Application of thermocouples About you Ideally 3rd level Engineering Qualification /Degree / HLA or equivalent Fully familiar and regular use of MS Office Packages.
Well organised and efficient An eye for detail - you will maintain calibration certs for all test equipment and ensure training is up to date.
