Position: Permanent, Full-Time
Job description:
1. Produce a large assortment of technical documents including Desk Studies, ground investigation reports (GIRs), geotechnical design reports (GDRs), specifications.
2. Produce 2D geotechnical models and drawings using geotechnical design software for routine design problems (slope stability, retaining wall design, settlement/movement impact assessment etc.) and drawings.
3. Carry out site inspections/supervision to confirm compliance with the Specification for the works.
4. Undertake design calculations and reporting independently with a strong focus on delivery dates and budget awareness.
5. Participate in client and internal meetings as part of the design team.
6. Designing ground investigation campaigns and procurement documentation and drawings.
7. Supervising ground investigations in the field and other geotechnical related aspects of construction. Scheduling laboratory tests on collected samples and reviewing results/borehole logs.
8. Actively involved with graduates to explain routine geotechnical design problems/standards.
Profile
Essential:
* Minimum 2.1 Bachelor Degree or Masters in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology or similar related subject. Minimum 2+ years experience in geotechnical engineering firm or similar company, preferably in Ireland.
* Experience in geotechnical design of infrastructure projects.
* Knowledge on Irish geology and geotechnical/soil mechanics principles.
* Working experience of site investigation, laboratory techniques and associated software and analysis tools for soil and rock logging.
* Practical knowledge of geotechnical reporting and geotechnical design software (i.e GeoStudio, Plaxis 2D, Rocscience, Oasys suite of software).
* Can communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and outside agencies and build effective working relationships and always aiming to exceed client expectations.
* Committed to Continued Professional Development.
* Understanding of the application of Eurocode principles in geotechnical design.
* Full clean driver's license.
Desirable:
* MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology.
* Working towards Chartered status.
* Understanding of public procurement process and documentation in Ireland.
* Good knowledge of types of engineering contracts.
* Knowledge of BIM and an understanding of core concepts and principles.
