As a result, our people get to enjoy working on some of the most exciting projects in the worldJob DescriptionThis is an opportunity to be part of a transformative piece of new public transport infrastructure, the first of its kind in Ireland. It will comprise a high-capacity, high-frequency, modern and efficient metro railway, with 16 new stations running from Swords to Charlemont. The alignment will link Dublin Airport, Irish Rail, DART, Dublin Bus and Luas services and create a fully integrated public transport network for the Greater Dublin Area (GDA).We are looking for a professional town planner adept at working in complex planning, environmental and land acquisition areas with great attention to detail and an interest in delivering capital infrastructure projects. The role holder will join the Land & Property team to support the delivery of this key piece of critical infrastructure. The role holder will be involved in a wide variety of land, planning and property issues, therefore requires flexibility and adaptability to deal with these challenges.Principal AccountabilitiesManage, prepare and submit planning applications and processes from inception through delivery to commissioning. This includes pre-planning consultations, preparation or management of planning applications and reports and responding to further information requests.Manage appeals and responses to third party appeals, plan compliance and other statutory planning processes as may be required.Work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve consensus, overcome or mitigate challenges, and to achieve project objectives.Identify areas of policy interest and prepare submissions on relevant planning, environmental or governmental policy.Contribute to safeguarding of project/client. Implement and operate the safeguarding process, in conjunction with existing stakeholders and governance.Formulate and implement effective planning strategies. Provide planning opinions on the requirement for planning permission. Undertake planning site assessments.Provide planning appraisals of proposed projects, identifying and mitigating planning risk where possible.Collate, analyse, and interpret a range of socio-economic, demographic, policy, and related material in support of development proposals and policy change.Prepare reports, presentations and other communications to internal and external stakeholders and senior management on progress, updates, risk items and planning strategies.Perform additional tasks, activities or other duties as may be required or assigned as part of the role.ExperienceMinimum 5 years' experience in a similar Town planner role.Experience delivering consent for infrastructure projects; linear projects particularly desirable.QualificationsSkillsGood IT, administration, and organisational skills.Excellent attention to detail.Ability to effectively engage with and manage relationships with various stakeholders, including customers, regulatory bodies, and internal teams.Ability to work in complex planning, environmental and land acquisition areas with great attention to detail and an interest in delivering capital infrastructure projects.Excellent verbal and report writing skills and the ability to communicate clearly with others.Excellent understanding and knowledge of Irish planning legislation, planning and environmental guidance, and applicable planning policy.Ability to work within a team and share knowledge to create optimal planning routes and delivering on team objectives.Formal Education QualificationsA qualification in Town Planning (IPI/RTPI accredited; alternatives may be considered depending on applicant experience)Additional InformationOur inspired people share our vision and mission.
