Responsibilities
Ensure that the provision of a high standard of care to the resident and families in Willow Brooke Care Centre is consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of Willow Brooke Care Centre.
Demonstrate behavior consistent with the Values of Willow Brooke Care Centre.
Participation in the overall management of Willow Brooke Care Centre as part of the management team.
Plan, assess and deliver resident care, together with all members of the multidisciplinary care team.
Play an active role in resident education and be actively involved in Health Education and Promotion.
Encourage recognition of the resident as an individual; ensuring resident's needs and comfort are given priority.
Communicate with relevant team regarding resident's condition and relaying information and changes in Doctor Instructions.
Communicates with relatives of residents and with visitors as requested.
Liaising with relatives of the resident.
Attend / chair meetings as required and keep staff briefed on developments in Willow Brooke Care Centre.
Be aware of the confidential nature of the work and in particular, the right of residents to confidentiality. To this end you will not discuss workings of Willow Brooke Care Centre or its residents with people outside Willow Brooke Care Centre.
In the absence of the Director of Nursing the Assistant Director of Nursing shall undertake the role and responsibilities of the Person-in-Charge in line with the Health Act 2007, related regulations and the Health information and Quality Authority (HIQA) standards.
Oversee the organization of the multi-disciplinary care team.
Co-ordinate the quality and safety system including all aspects of clinical risk management and resident involvement.
Participate with the orientation of all new care staff to Willow Brooke Care Centre.
Endeavour to keep abreast of recent trends in healthcare developments through research & up to date practices.
Be responsible for the development, education and supervision of staff.
Facilitate the arrangements necessary and participate where appropriate, in education and training of other staff as the need arises.
Be responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
Lead, by example, a professional, punctual and dedicated team.
Create and promote open communications, healthy working relationships, and stimulate initiative among the team.
Motivate team members, by agreeing goals and objectives, through performance review.
To undertake such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Director of Nursing.

Post Graduate Diploma in Gerontology a benefit but not essential
Leadership Advantage a benefit not essential
IT Literate
Qualifications
Minimum two years post graduate experience
Have an in-depth knowledge of the ageing process
A registered Nurse on the Register of Nurses held by An Board Altranais and evidence of continuous professional development
Demonstrate sound knowledge of clinical nursing practice together with future trends in Care of Older Persons
Act as a good role model
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Teaching skills
Has ability to manage change.
QQI Level 6 in Leadership Skills essential
