Tipperary County Council is the Authority responsible for Local Government in County Tipperary. The corporate headquarters are located at Civic Offices, Emmet Street, Clonmel and Limerick Road, Nenagh, and there are five Municipal Districts [Borough District of Clonmel, Municipal District of Tipperary, Cahir, Cashel, Municipal District Thurles, Municipal District of Nenagh and Municipal District of Carrick on Suir]. Tipperary County Council has 40 elected members and approximately 1200 staff.

An opportunity now exists in Tipperary County Council for the position of Chief Fire Officer.
Job Summary/Description
The Chief Fire Officer is responsible for the efficient management, direction and development of the planning and aligned functions of this Service on behalf of Tipperary County Council. The Chief Fire Officer is responsible for the management of a multi-disciplinary team and the efficient delivery of services in a dynamically changing environment where value for money is crucial.
The Chief Fire Officer is required to work closely with the Management Team and Elected Members to deliver strategic corporate objectives, lead on policy implementation and actively participate in the Council’s multi-disciplinary approach to Climate Action.
The duties and responsibilities attached to the post of Chief Fire Officer may vary from time to time, without changing the general character of the duties or level of responsibility. The Chief Fire Officer may be required to perform duties appropriate to the post and grade, other than those detailed above and to take instructions from and report to a Director of Services or another employee as designated by the Chief Executive.
