The Opportunity for You
As an IT Operating Model Manager, you will:
* Partner with senior technology and business leaders to architect ‘how’ technology functions unlock business value and agility through the right operating model blueprint.
* Lead the design and delivery of Technology Operating Model strategies – from product and platform structures to organisation, governance, and process design.
* Shape value cases and transformation roadmaps aligned to business objectives.
* Conduct Agile and modern engineering maturity assessments and recommend actionable improvements.
* Guide clients through the adoption of modern engineering capabilities including Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Automation, Data & AI, and Cloud.
* Lead multi-disciplinary teams to shape, sell, and implement operating model transformation programmes.
* Provide insights on industry trends and emerging technologies to inform operating model evolution.
* Lead and coach client teams through change, embedding new ways of working and mitigating transformation risks.
Qualifications & Background
We are looking for experienced technology leaders who can develop and cultivate long-term client relationships, become key contributors within multidisciplinary cross-functional project teams, embrace diversity and inclusion, and are creative problem solvers with a passion for transforming enterprise technology organisations.
Required:
* 6+ years of experience in technology strategy, operating model design, or engineering leadership roles
* Proven experience in defining and delivering impactful, effective and pragmatic operating model projects
* Strong understanding of modern IT, Data, AI, and Cloud operating model components and methodologies
* Ability to simplify complex technology challenges and influence senior stakeholders
* Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing large-scale transformation programmes
* First class written and verbal communication skills
* Experienced storyteller with data and ability to communicate findings to a non-technical audience
* Drive, enjoy a challenge, proven ability to adapt and remove obstacles to achieve results, determination and optimism
* Strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement, with the skills to lead teams developing proposals
Desirable:
* BA, BSc or MSc qualified, preferably in an engineering, technology or business-related field
* Experience within the Financial Services, Health and Public Sector, Resources (Energy & Utilities), Software or Products (Consumer Goods & Services, Retail) industries
* Knowledge of, and passion for, business and technology trends such as GenAI, Microservices/Containers/APIs, Blockchain, ZBx, Platform Business Models, Big Data, Internet of Things
* Experience in one or more of the following:
o Mentoring teams to become more agile and adopting Agile delivery methods
o Architecting operating model change, workforce transformation, or product management
o Shaping enterprise architectures to meet business strategy
o Modern engineering practices
o ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) and/or PPM (Project and Portfolio Management) tools
o Certifications on SAFe, LeSS or other Agile frameworks
o Cloud practitioner for leading cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)
o Architecture (e.g. TOGAF, TOG Certified Architect, DAMA Data Management)
